You should by now have chosen one of the three broad areas (Holiday, Body Modification & Celebrity), then one of the three titles & then one of the bullet points out of which to create your question. This week the focus is on RESEARCH. Here are some starters that might help:
CELEBRITY: listen to this spoof on the modern obsession with being famous, which comes in the form of a 15 minute musical. Before you listen to it by clicking here, make sure that you know the story of Sweeney Todd first.The programme is called Ramsey Todd. The clip will only be available for a week as it's on iplayer.
BODY MODIFICATION (Beauty/Perfection): this article from The Independent Newspaper on Ugly Betty analyses the appeal of the drama series, examining the cultural values it delivers. To find out more about the history of ideas about what beauty is, then click here (45 mins).
HOLIDAY (Carnival!): You can find out about the history of Notting Hill carnival by clicking here and listening to a podcast about its heritage and relationship with cultural identity. The Independent Newpaper describes the carnival as a 'triumph of multiculuralism' in this article; do you agree?

hello i am taking this course and for the seconds part of my coursework, the presentation i have chosen to do holiday but i am struggling to think of a topic that i can give my opinion on. For celebrity and body modification i feel there are lots of topics that can be debated for example people obsession over their bodies and the medias influence on them and for celebrity peoples need to be like a celberity etc however for the holiday topic i really have no idea of a topic i could do my presentation about if you could give me a few ideas i would really appreciate it as it might help me to be able to understand more along the type of lines of what my presentation could be about so i could start it, thankyou
